We had the privilege of interviewing Lillie to get to know more about who she is, what she is passionate about and about the upcoming release of our Christian art print collaboration titled: Second Coming.
First off, where are you based and how do you think most people know you from online?
What does a week in your life normally look like?
As a homeschooling mum, my days are centered around quality time with my kids. We enjoy sports, arts and crafts, catching up with friends, baking, and Bible reading. I also take care of the home, create TikTok content, and am working on a decluttering Ebook. It's a fulfilling and busy life!
Looking at your TikTok, we can see that you have a passion for motherhood and living a minimalist life in your home, how did these become passions for you?
Minimalism became a passion of mine when I first had my son, Noah. I felt a lot of anxiety and was overwhelmed with being a new mum but also living in a one bedroom apartment with clutter everywhere (babies come with a lot of stuff somehow!). I began looking on Youtube and found The Minimalists and started my journey of decluttering, that was now 4.5 years ago!
As a Christian, my passion for motherhood stems from my desire to raise my children in the ways of the Lord. I made the decision to be with them every day, teaching and guiding them myself, breaking the cycle of a distant relationship with my own parents. This path has allowed me to create a loving and nurturing environment for my kids while fostering a deep connection with them.
How has following Jesus influenced not only your creativity but also your life?
Jesus influences everything I do. I am passionate about living a slow and simple life, this gives me more time to focus on what’s important. I do not feel like I’m missing out when it comes to my minimalist lifestyle because I want to focus more on building my treasures in heaven.
How did you become a follower of Jesus?
I moved out when I was quite young with my sister, we unintentionally moved next to a church. We didn’t know anything about Jesus, but after our hard childhood, I think we both were craving some love. We decided to go one Sunday night and said we would just stand at the back where no one can see us, not realising it was a tiny church of only about 10-15 people. They took us in and we finally felt like we had a family, we gave our lives over to Jesus and never looked back. I thank Jesus so much for that night.
As a creator, what do you believe is the most important rule or perspective to have?
Honestly, do not let the fear of others' opinions stop you from creating what you’re passionate about. I am so guilty of this, but at the end of the day, you cannot please everyone.
What song is on repeat at the moment?
Who am I - Needtobreathe
If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go?
I have always wanted to go to Jerusalem!
What is one thing that most people don't know about you, but that you would like to share?
Hmm, I’m such an open book that I feel like everyone knows everything haha! Maybe that I’m a 3rd Dan Blackbelt in Taekwondo.
Switching gears to talk about the Christian art print we collaborated on, can you share what the creative process was like and the meaning behind the design?
My husband and I always talk about Jesus coming back, we love imagining what it’ll be like. I wanted it to be what I picture in my head of Jesus in the sky, but I also love the look of simple and minimalist design as well so I wanted to incorporate the two!
What is your hope for those that see the print??
Exactly that, hope. In the midst of life's worries and anxieties, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But here's the incredible truth: Jesus promised to return soon. He will restore and set things right once more, bringing ultimate peace and fulfillment. So, take comfort in knowing that you can find rest and solace in this assurance.
For the last question, what would you share with that person who is reading this interview?
Thank you for taking the time to read this all the way through! If you're considering getting this print, my deepest hope is that it brings you a profound sense of calm. May it serve as a constant reminder that you are deeply loved, seen, and incredibly significant. Remember, Jesus is coming back for you, and that realisation should fill your heart with immeasurable joy and anticipation.
